Is it tripping the breaker on your home's electrical panel? If this is the case, you need to know what that breaker is also feeding, how much amperage it can handle, and what the load demand is. Your washer needs 1700W which is around 15 Amps. If you're on a 15 Amp breaker that is already supplying power to something else, such as incandescent light bulbs, then you're going to trip the breaker each and every time. You'll want to plug it into a 20 Amp circuit that's being used by little to no other electrical devices. A quick alternative is to unplug or power off all other devices before using the washer.

Or plug it into the same outlet that you use your blow dryer. Answered on May 22, 2014.

Hi dominguezcarlos, Generally speaking the the smaller pressure washers have a pressure switch in place of an unloader valve. When the wand valve is in the open position the pressure switch closes the circuit and allows the pump to turn on. When you close the wand valve the pressure switch has and open circuit turning the pump off. If yours is stuck on then the switch is frozen allowing the pump to run. It's very important with these small pressure washers to drain the water out after every use.

Also if your storing the unit get a can of pump saver and make sure everything is protected from corrosion. I don't see a replacement valve for that unit but you might be able to take it apart and fix the stuck pressure switch.Wish I could be of more help.Hope that helps.Good luck. I have the same problem. I checked the parts list for Black & Decker Power Washer model PW 1600.

According to the diagram for the unit, that plastic connector is no longer used. It's been replaced by a completely different connection. Probably because of all the problems with the plastic connection being stripped. Here's the web address for the diagram: To fix the problem, I would bet you'd have to take the unit apart, remove the stripped connection, install the new replacement connector and re-assemble the unit.

I'm generally not Brand loyal but Black and Decker has always delivered for me. That was my decision point in this purchase. First year the hose which is rather stiff broke at the connector. Than the turbo wand went south and when I went to unscrew the mechanism to examine it, the screw broke off in the wand.

All told I would have to spend half the purchase price on maintenance and parts replacement cost in the two years I've owned it. Also, the detergent reservoir works only when it wants to and then very inadequately. Still, the beast keeps kicking but I'd never replace it with a similar product. Bought this pressure washer for son in law and daughjters christmas gift and they didn't use it until november of next year. It would not work right out of the box.

They did not call about replacement in time to have it covered under warranty. Coucl not get anything done about not working. Now can't find parts listed for pump as i was going to work on it myself. This is third black and decker tool that i have purchased in last two years but it will be my last as customer service sucks, not only on this item but on all three.
