Original title: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver please help, after installing windows 8 on my laptop,it works very good but after while it dosen`t read any flash disk i connected it with my lap. And it appears this in properties in devices and printers Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.(Code 38) The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory. First thanks for your help, but i 'v allready tried all what you v said, and no result am very sad i wanted to try windows 8 and i will buy later but i don`t know where is the problem i instaled the windows 3 times and got it from microsoft site (enterprise edition 86x trial 90 days) my lap is toshiba satellite l645 s4032 my be my laptop not supported by windows. None of my pen drives are showing up on the computer.the sound that something has been connected does come when i connect it, and even when i remove it, yet the pen drive wont read. I thought the pen drives were spoiled, but i tried checking them on another computer running on windows xp and they all ran properly.i really need them to work here. Have you tried to uninstall all the USB devcies controller and chipset drives to the latest version? You may try installing the lates version of Chipset drivers from and also install the BIOS updates. Important: Modifying BIOS (Basic input output system)/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved.
