Having run out of space on my 'C' drive, I reinstalled Office XP on my external drive, then deleted it from the 'C' drive. All the components, such as Word, Access, Excel, etc. Work fine, but for some reason Publisher was not installed. It does not appear on the list of installed programs, on neither of the two hard drives. When I try to reinstall the whole suite using the CD in either of my two ROM drives, and I click on my ROM drive icon, it informs me that 'Access is denied'. I have lots of Publisher files - what should I do to access them?

First of all, I did manage to reinstall the XP programs, by inserting the CD, then clicking Start, Run and entering Setup.exe, which did the trick. Now, to reply to your questions: 1) Did use Add/Remove; 2)Did uninstall before installing on external; 3) and 4) My internal drive is only 40GB, so I've transferred most major programs to the external, which is turned on all the time; 5) Checked other CDs on both drives and they worked fine; 6) Did not try System Restore, but uninstalled Office completely off the external drive to get a clean install again, and while the access is still denied, I did reinstall the software to the external drive, as mentioned earlier, and it works like a charm. However, what I found out is that Publisher is not on the disk - so now I have to figure out what other CD I got it from originally (perhaps my original Office 2000 CD that came with my 10 year old computer) - or else 'my dog ate Publisher!'
