Hello all, I'm just trying to check some information about a system before my application continues to run for some reason i do not get the correct information. Hello Paul, can you tell me how i can get teh differance between x86 x64 I have got a lot off other problem i have to get used to I use to develop on windows xp x86 when windows 7 came out i couldnt run iton my computer.

So i bought new computer and since i had to buy 1 i bought 1 that support x64 systems not knowing the problems it brings along. My guess is that developing on a 64 bit os is diffirent, and i really regret that now i can't switch back to a x86 anymore unless im willing to loose 1/3 off my ddr memory Thanks for your help More knowledge, means more problems. Martin, I know I can change the project type inside the configuration manager. I found this out with the first project I created on this x64 system.

I got the message this is not a valid win32 application When trying to create a standard device in DirectX. The project I’m working on right now is simple.

To prevent crashes I want to check the following: + Checks what the current Operating System is (including x86 or x64) + Checks if it can render glass. (Based on other issues it might encounter) + Checks if the video card is capable of rendering DirectX. + Checks current joystick or gamepad that are connected. All of this I worked out except for 1 thing I don’t seem to get right.

Let say: When I give my project to you to test it for me, then I don’t know if you have an x86 or x64 system. So I want the program to find out on its own, like it will find out everything else already. I have downloaded a lot of samples from the net to learn, but after 5 days now still the same. I always seem to get the same answer Win32NT. More knowledge, means more problems. Renee, I find this Windows 7 x64 nothing more than annoying, half my programs won’t run properly. + The user account control is always in the way like in vista.

+ Most virus scanners don’t work like in the past. + Many programs don’t work anymore. So they come up with Windows XP mode. Really the biggest nonsense I’ve seen so far. + My quad core suddenly becomes 6 Hz. + Video card only renders in 16 bit colors. + Maximum resolution of 1024 x 768.

+ Soundcard sounds like it got hick ups. So most software I can’t use because of the limitations and installing the real drivers don’t work either.

When I try to install them they claim the hardware is not found. And I know it isn’t my hardware, because I get a system rating of 6.2 Other issues I have since I use Visual Studio 2010. The help files are not use full at all when I need to find something I use the help files in VS 2008. I wander since you have a windows 7 (x64) to, can you add the following references to a project? Microsoft.DirectX Microsoft.DirectX.DirectX3D Microsoft.DirectX.DirectX3DX Because I can’t add those references, and XNA Framework isn’t supported.

But I can add the references I find this very confusing. Since I installed Silverlight 4 I’m no longer able to create NET RIA services in Silverlight applications either. So in VS 2008 with Silverlight 3, no database in my website applications. And what is a website without a database? The interface keeps resetting how I adjust the windows I set, every time I have to set the windows again. + Team Explorer + Toolbox + Solution Explorer + Properties + Server Explorer + Data Sources + Document Outline + Schema View And 1 option about highlighting references and keywords makes it crash.

I really like the new look, but it doesn’t seem stable at all. Like it has been launched to soon. More knowledge, means more problems.
